Nestled on the West Shore of Donner Lake, this 10 acre day use beach facility offers excellent shaded picnic and barbecue sites for families or groups, that includes a playground, basketball courts, tennis courts, boat rentals, and Pier Thirty-ate snack bar.
East End Donner Beach
If you exit Donner Pass exit and make a right, you will need to park on the left just before you see Donne Lake. A nice short walk through the trees and you’ll pop out on the east end of Donne Lake! If you follow the trail straight through to the end you will see a bridge as well as some picnic areas down by a sliver of the lake that wraps around.
Commons Beach
Commons Beach is the jewel in the heart of Tahoe City. Spanning four acres, it is the site of many community events, such as summertime concerts, movies, music, and a farmer’s market. Families love the beachside playground situated among towering trees.
Hidden Beach
“Hidden in plain sight” might be the best way to describe Lake Tahoe’s Hidden Beach. Although it sits right next to Highway 28, you won’t even see it unless you stop and peer over the guard rail. The beach itself is flanked by giant boulders
Emerald Bay Beach
Emerald Bay Beach is only accessible by a one-mile steep & sandy hike from the Emerald Bay parking lot on Highway 89, or via a 4 mile trail from Bliss State Park. Emerald Bay Beach features picnic tables, the historic Vikingsholm Castle, and views of the only island in Lake Tahoe. Limited parking available.
Coon Street Dog Beach
This small, rocky beach is the only public dog beach in Kings Beach and Tahoe Vista. The Tahoe Unleashed Dog Park at the North Tahoe Regional Park in Tahoe Vista is another dog-friendly option nearby.
Chimney Beach
Chimney Beach is one of the best ways to get away from the crowds, as long as you’re willing to make the moderate half mile hike (one way). Enjoy sweeping views of Lake Tahoe, boulder outcroppings, sandy beach, and crystal clear water.
Carnelian Beach West
The California Tahoe Conservancy’s “Carnelian West” beach shares a free parking facility and day use buoy field with Gar Woods restaurant in Carnelian Bay. This wide, flat beach has year-round public restrooms and welcomes you and your leashed dog.
Kings Beach State Park and Boat Launch
Welcome to Kings Beach, the largest public beach on the North Shore! Explore its nearly 700 feet of shoreline or spend the day on the water with a rental from North Tahoe Watersports. Rent a Jet Ski, kayak, water bike, or paddle boat, or enjoy a parasailing.
Skunk Harbor
Skunk Harbor is one of North Lake Tahoe’s hidden beaches. It can only be accessed by hiking or biking the 1.6-mile long trail. The “trail” is actually an old road with a lot of history.
Hurricane Bay
Hurricane Bay Beach is a ½ mile beach featuring a shoreline of beautiful pebbles. Located between Tahoe City and Homewood, it is easy to spot and runs parallel to the bike path. Parking is available right off the main road near the wooden posts next to the bike path.
Sandy Beach
Sandy Beach is located in Tahoe Vista slightly east of Anderson Road. This tiny piece of public shoreline offers picnic tables and barbecues in the trees. Portable restrooms are provided in the summer, and parking is available only along the highway.
Speedboat Beach
Speedboat Beach is a very small beach located at the foot of Harbor Avenue that features beautiful granite boulders. With almost no public parking. It is suggested for use by those in the adjacent neighborhoods or those who choose to access the beach by foot, bicycle or public transit.
Meeks Bay Resort and Marina
Families love Meeks Bay for its spacious white sandy beach and lakeside picnic areas. The large designated swimming area is accessed easily from the parking lot (which requires a fee). For your convenience there is an onsite food stand, bathrooms, and more.
Sugar Pine Point State Park
Bordering Lake Tahoe for almost two miles, Sugar Pine Point State Park is the largest state park at Lake Tahoe. Explore its 2,000 acres filled with sugar pine, aspen, juniper, and fir forests, plus 3.5 miles that extends into the Desolation Wilderness.
D.L. Bliss State Park
Lester Beach and Calawee Cove Beach are located at D.L. Bliss State Park have to be some of Lake Tahoe’s most awe inspiring beaches with expansive views of Lake Tahoe. The park location is on the West side of Lake Tahoe, just above Emerald Bay.
Patton Landing
The California Tahoe Conservancy’s “Patton Landing” beach is located in the heart of Carnelian Bay, and has a small coffeehouse with fresh food and drinks as well as kayak, paddleboard and canoe rentals. The public beach has lakefront picnic tables and seasonal restrooms.
Chambers Landing
Chambers Landing beach is a small public beach managed by the U.S. Forest Service and located near Homewood, California. Enjoy great views of North Lake Tahoe that will not disappoint. The beach itself is a mixture of sand and some small rocks.
